The V.I.P. Adelaide Adrenaline continued their unbeaten run at home defeating the Sydney Ice Dogs 7-5 in a hard physical affair at the Ice Arena last night. The Dogs who have not tasted victory this year came out flying and scored the first goal within the first minute. The Adrenaline ties the game 5 minutes later on a superb effort from Josh Harding, however within the next few minutes the Dogs scored 2 goals and it looked like a long night ahead. With some extreme pressure and a couple lucky bounces the Adrenaline scored 3 goals in the final 4 minutes of period 1 to take the lead 4-3. The period ended in some fireworks as Canadian Import Cam Dion had a heated exchange with Dogs goalkeeper Jim Herbert resulting in 26 minutes handed out in penalties to both teams. The second period was a goalkeeper”s duel as neither team could find the back of the net until Shane Lovdahl scored a beautiful shorthanded goal and his second of the game to increase the lead to 5-3 after 2 periods. The third period was a rough affair and a lack of discipline showed by the frustrated Dogs who took plenty of penalties resulting in 2 more Adrenaline goals by Wehebe Darge and a first ever AIHL goal by Canadian Import Dale Hall. Head Coach Mike Gainer was extremely happy with the effort after 2 hard losses last weekend on the Gold Coast and special mention goes to Cam Dion with 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points and Captain Greg Oddy with 3 assists along with MVP of the game Shane Lovdahl with 2 goals. The Adrenaline will now prepare for the Canberra Knights who are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Sydney Bears as they will do battle this coming Saturday at 4.30 pm at the Ice Arena-Thebarton.

Adrenaline lose tough one
The V.I.P Adelaide Adrenaline have suffered consecutive losses on the Gold Coast going down 6-3 despite outshooting the Bluetongues 38-20 but once again getting no bounces fall there way with at least 4-5 goalposts. Captain Greg Oddy had another outstanding game scoring 2 great goals.
Adrenaline get bounced by Bluetongues
The V.I.P Adrenaline despite outshooting The Gold Coast 39-21 were defeated 5-1 at Iceland Bundall as the Bluetongues capitalized on some bounces there way and had an outstanding performance by Goalie Luke Fiveash. The Adrenaline will look to come out flying on Sunday to split the 2 games but will have to do it without Assistant captain Cas Delsar who broke 2 ribs and could be out of action for up to 6 weeks.
ADRENALINE HIT THE ROAD
The V.I.P. Adelaide Adrenaline travel to the Gold Coast this weekend to battle the Bluetongues at Bundall Iceland, with both games from 4pm on Saturday May 15th and Sunday May 16th.We will be looking to extend our winning streak and taking the 6 points that are on offer against a very tough Gold Coast outfit who always seem to rise to the occasion on home ice. The Adrenaline will have a very good line-up this weekend including the return of defenceman David Huxley who has been overseas following his stint with the NST at the recent world Championships in Mexico. Also making his debut this weekend will be Winnipeg native and import Dale Hall who replaces Cam Dion as he heads to Victoria to support his partner Amy as she competes in the Great Ocean Road 45 km Marathon.

Adrenaline put Bears in hibernation
The Adelaide Adrenaline continued their winning ways with a dominating 14-1 demolition of the Penrith Bears on Sunday afternoon at the ice arena. Adelaide totally dominated the game from the opening faceoff and, just past the 5 minute mark, Sami Mantere scored a beautiful goal setup by Shane Lovdahl and James Keane. Over the next 3 minutes the Adrenaline pumped in 3 more goals past Bears starter Warwick Simpson, chasing him in favour of backup Gabriel Robledo who stopped all the shots his way in the first period keeping the score at 4-0 at the first break.
In the second period the Adrenaline kept up the pressure with bone crushing hits and outshot the Bears 19-10 in the period, with both teams scoring. First it was Wehebe Darge, setup by Mantere and Cas Delsar, making it 5-0, before Sydney captain Vlad Rubes beat Olivier Martin cutting the lead to 5-1 after 2. Whatever was said to the team by Coaches Mike Gainer & Ryan O’Handley seemed to have an instant result as the Adrenaline scored 3 more goals within the first 3 minutes, increasing their lead to 8-1 and totally deflating the Bears. The Adrenaline went on to score an additional 6 goals for a 14-1 final score. Special mention goes to the following players with multiple points during the game, Shane Lovdahl with 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points, Cam Dion with 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points, Captain Greg Oddy with 5 assists and Sami Mantere with 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points. Nick Clark also played a very solid game in defence.
The Adrenaline outshot the Bears 44-26 and now head to the Gold Coast to face the Blue-Tongues this coming weekend May 15, 16. The next home game is Saturday May 22 at 4.30 pm vs The Sydney Ice Dogs.
Adrenaline Win Season Opener in a Shootout
The Adelaide Adrenaline have opened their season with a 3-2 shootout win over the Sydney Ice Dogs in front of over 400 spectators at the Ice Arena in Adelaide. It was a special night started with the presentation of a jersey, DVD and a cheque for $7,461.40 to cancer patient Nathan Bruce and his wife Sheron. Jodie Blewett was also presented with a jersey as our number 1 season ticket holder and also dropped the puck for the ceremonial faceoff. Captain Greg Oddy then unveiled the 2009 Championship banner that now hangs proudly from the rafters.
The game started at an extremely fast pace with chances at both ends. As a very physical game developed, Defenseman Nick Clark scored Adelaide’s first goal of the game at the 10 minute mark on a nifty passing play setup by Wehebe Darge and Canadian import Cam Dion. The Ice Dogs peppered the net but were turned away by Goalkeeper Peter King, and in the last minute the Adrenaline increased the lead as a perfect pass from captain Greg Oddy allowed Wehebe Darge to find the back of the net with King also assisting on the play giving the Adrenaline a 2-0 lead after the first period.
The second period was totally dominated by the Ice Dogs as they started to take control of the game with some bone crunching hits and dominant play and they cut the lead in half when Brendon Tripp scored from Tomas Manco and Scott Herbert. The Dogs outshot the Adrenaline 13-4 in the period.
The Ice Dogs took the early ascendency in the third period. With just under 9 minutes to go they tied the game on a nice goal by Matthew Monaghan, assisted by Andrew Decristofolo and Chris Sekura. This seemed to spark the Adrenaline as they then had several glorious chances but Goalkeeper Jim Herbert was up for the challenge and the game ended 2-2 in regulation.
In the penalty Shootout Finnish star Sami Mantere scored the only goal and Peter King put in a stellar performance in net stopping all three shots giving the Adrenaline a 3-2 shootout win, to open their defence of the 2009 championship.
The Adrenaline hosts the Penrith Bears in their next home game this coming Sunday May 9th at the ice arena at 3.30 pm.
BATTLE FOR A CAUSE A HUGE SUCCESS
The V.I.P. Adelaide Adrenaline Charity game for super fan and Cancer patient Nathan Bruce was an extraordinary event.
Over 440 spectators turned out to support Nathan and to see Team Blue vs. Team White battle it out on the ice. With current Adrenaline players and former Avalanche Alumni players on both teams the game was always going to be a spectacle.
The game started with plenty of speed and scoring chances and with just over 5 minutes gone Alumni player #6 Ben Thilthorpe opened the scoring for Team White, less than 10 seconds later Adrenaline and Australian representative #4 Dean Peterson increased the lead to 2-0. With Team Blue now behind the eight ball they started to apply some heavy pressure and Import Cam Dion from Alberta drove to the net not only opening the scoring for Team Blue but also crashing heavily into Team White Goalkeeper Peter King. Then it was time for Nathans favourite Avalanche player #19 Trevor Walsh to do some magical stuff with the puck and in a span of 10 seconds and 2 great goals later team Blue took the lead 3-2. Early in the second period Walshy completed his hat-trick on a fantastic passing play setup by Finnish import #11 Sami Mantere and former Avalanche and Australian Captain #7 Glen Foll. Then it was time for Sami to weave some magic of his own scoring a highlight goal just under the crossbar to finish the scoring in period 2 giving Team Blue a 5-2 lead. The Blue team increased the lead to 6-2 with current Adrenaline and Australian representative #13 Wehebe Darge finishing off another great passing play by Mantere and Alumni player David Madsen. This seem to inspire the white team who mounted a comeback with Thilthorpe scoring his second goal of the game followed by #15 current adrenaline player Luke Harding and new Adrenaline player #5 Steve Best, this created a very exciting last few minutes as White attempted to get the equaliser and they pulled the goalie for an extra attacker however Walshy blasted the puck and missed the open net however Mantere was able to score into the empty net making the final score. Team Blue-7 Team White- 5. Speaking with Nathan after the game he told me he thoroughly enjoyed the event and was grinning ear to ear that his favourite player Trevor Walsh scored a hat trick.
All proceeds from the game will go to Nathan Bruce and family to help pay for a family holiday.
On behalf of the Adrenaline management I would like to thank all the sponsors, the people who donated goods etc and also the former Alumni players for coming back to support this special event.
