Adrenaline Announce Assistant Coach: Ryan O’Handley

Raised in Kenaston Saskatchewan, Canada, Ryan has been involved in hockey for 30 years as a player and coach in Canada, the United States and Australia.

After completing his tertiary and post-graduate education at the Universities of Saskatchewan and Calgary, Ryan was on the coaching staff at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, USA from 1999-2001. He worked as a head coach in the junior varsity program and as an assistant coach to Tony MacAulay with the Varsity side that won the 2001 State Championship.

After moving to Prince Edward Island, Canada, Ryan worked as the regional scout for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey for the Roanoke Express of the ECHL from 2003-2004 League.

Ryan and his family moved to Perth in June 2004 where he became immediately involved in hockey in Western Australia. From 2006-2009 Ryan was Club Coaching Director with the Cockburn Hawks Ice Hockey Club and the head coach of the Cockburn Hawks in the WAIHA Superleague, winning championships in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, Ryan was the Head Coach for Western Australia at the Goodall Cup, winning a silver Medal.

In January, Ryan and his family moved to South Australia and is looking forward to working with the Adrenaline and Head Coach Mike Gainer at the highest level of hockey in Australia.
