Adrenaline keep home record intact

The V.I.P. Adelaide Adrenaline have continued there home winning streak with  a come from behind 8-7 shootout earlier this evening at the Ice Arena. The Adrenaline were looking for some revenge after losing both games last month on the Gold Coast and found themselves down 1-0 early but replied on a nifty goal by captain Greg Oddy setup by Josh Harding and Cam Dion but once again were down 2-1 a few minutes later. Some hard work paid off with 2 late goals to the Adrenaline first Dion from Oddy and Harding then Dale Hall with a nifty short side goal setup by Oddy and Harding ending the period 3-2 for the home side. Early in the second the Adrenaline increased the lead to 4-2 on a solo effort and second of the game by Hall but this seemed to wake the Bluetongues up as some costly penalties resulted in 3 quick goals by the Tongues as they took the lead 5-4 after 2. With just 7 seconds gone in the third the Bluetongues were penalised giving the Adrenaline a golden opportunity to even up the score however a shorthanded 2 on 1 rush was finished off by the Tongues increasing there lead to 6-4. The Adrenaline staerted to take control of the play and in a span of 6 minutes they pumped in 3 goals without reply to take the lead back 7-6, crowd favourite Sami Mantere started the comeback assisted by Oddy and Sean Greer followed by James Keane setup by Oddy with his 5th point of the game and Wehebe Darge, and the final goal scored by Darge setup by Keane and Cassian Delsar. Unfortunately for the home crowd the Bluetongues tied the game at 7-7 with 53 seconds left sending the game into Overtime. Adrenaline goalie Olivier Martin stopped all 3 Bluetongues shooters but Adrenaline forward Dean Peterson scored on the Adrenaline’s second shot securing the 8-7 victory and the 2 crucial points. The Adrenaline and Bluetongues face-off again on Sunday June 20th at 4.30 pm at the Ice Arena which should be another exciting match for the fans.

Adrenaline lose another tough road game

The V.I.P. Adelaide Adrenaline have suffered another road loss as they went down 2-1 to the Penrith Bears last night and have slipped from third to fourth on the AIHL ladder. It was a tough weekend for the Adrenaline who are still looking for their first win on the road after being undefeated at home. The Adrenaline new that Sydney would be a different team from the last meeting when Adelaide pulverised the Bears 14-1 at home and both teams had some early chances but the first period remained scoreless. early in the second the Bears took the lead on a goal by Roberto Franchitti however the Adrenaline equalised on a nice goal by James Keane setup by David Huxley. The Bears again took the lead with under 4 minutes to play in the second on a goal by Eric Begin. This seemed to wake the Adrenaline players who came out with a lot of intensity in the third but were not able to beat Bears goalie Nick Boucher the rest of the game with the Bears holding on 2-1. It was an extremely dissapointing weekend as there were 9 points that were there for the taking but only 2 points were secured in the shootout loss the night before in Newcastle.  The Adrenaline now has 2 weeks off to prepare themselves for the Gold Coast Bluetongues in back to back games at the Ice Arena with both games at 4.30 pm on saturday June 19 and Sunday June 20th where the Adrenaline will be out to keep the home record intact .

Adrenaline hold off charging Knights

The V.IP. Adelaide Adrenaline have continued there home winning streak with a hard fought 3-2 win over the Canberra Knights. The first period saw plenty of scoring opportunities with neither team able to find the back of the net. The Adrenaline opened the scoring 3 minutes into the second period when Captain Greg Oddy found the back of the net after a nifty passing play between the Harding brothers. American import Shane Lovdahl increased the lead to 2-0 on the Powerplay with assists to Oddy and Dion and this scoreline remained as the teams headed to the dressing room. The third started with a  frantic pace as the Knights cut the lead with a goal by Matt Watkins. Both teams continued to press and a huge rebound given up by Canberra Goalie Ryan Lowe resulted in Lovdahls secong goal of the game and third point of the night by Oddy and second assist for Dion. This insurance goal was huge as the Knights threw everything at goalie Olivier Martin resulting in there second goal of the game with 3.49 left to play by Sean Scarborough. The Adrenaline held on to win 3-2 and pick up some valuable points vaulting them into third place in the standings.

The Adrenaline now head off on an extremely important road-trip next weekend June 5-6 starting with there biggest game of the season in Newcastle for a double point game and 6 points on the line against last years runner-up the Northstars. We then head to Penrith to play the Bears who are a different team now with there import Goalie Nick Boucher arriving which will be a tougher test than the last 14-1 drubbing handed out by the Adrenaline.
